Try Peach Cobbler Mix In A Bag When There Is Limited Kitchen Time

By Carl Powell

There is nothing like cooking meals at home that are often made with love. While this is a nice thought and many working adults may strive to do this regularly, ample time for preparation is not always possible. There are many shortcuts out there that can take when preparing their entree but quick dessert should not be limited to a jello or a cake from the frozen food section. Peach cobbler mix in a bag is not only quick but versatile.

This type of dessert helper can bring the fun back to regular meals. Many of us grew up looking forward to dessert during family meals at the table but found with age that lack of time to be an obstacle to continuing this tradition. Here, there is little preparation to think about. Just add melted butter or oil, mix and spread across a layer of fresh or canned peaches. While the front label may list peaches, this mixture can be used for almost any type of fruit.

Cobbler topping is also good for layering a parfait, making crumb cake, or by itself as a portable snack. Since it is mostly oats and spices, it can add a healthy element to most desserts. Just mix the required ingredients and bake as indicated before adding to a prepared dessert.

Having a premeasured mix around the house not only saves time but is great for those who do not care to spend a lot of time in the kitchen. Even the most enthused cooks do not mind having a little help once in a while. So this is a great way to show the kids and anyone else in the household how to mix and bake the easy way.

Prepared mixes also allow for the easy addition of other ingredients. Popular additions may include ground ginger, raisins, or chopped nuts. A good rule of thumb for those unfamiliar with spices is to add no more than a couple of shakes, or less than a half cup, per one cup of mixture. If the mixture is too thick, add a little more melted butter or oil until desired consistency is achieved.

Although the cobbler is a popular member of the pie family, premeasured mixes can make these a less guilty pleasure. For instance, fresh or frozen peaches that are unsweetened is a good choice. Adding sugarless applesauce to the filling instead of sugar makes it more nutritious. Also, using an oil that is low in saturated fat can cut some of the calories.

For some who enjoy cooking outdoors, cobblers and pies are right there with marshmallow treat. Since the bake time is much less than a cake, miniature versions can be made using a smaller shallow pan. Just mix together as normal and place atop an outdoor grill uncovered.

Anyone who used this cobbler mix will most likely wonder why they did not discover this sooner, as it takes some of the time it takes to bake a fresh dessert. Even better, personalized touches can be made for individual enjoyment any time of day. All it takes is a little mixing and turning on an oven with baking features.
