Simple Pastry Recipes In New England

There are so many interesting and tasty desserts traditionally made in New England. Some are more popular than others, and some recipes come from the old country, Europe, and are kept in as more or less original for all this time. Most pastry recipes in New England are widely known and today they are prepared all around the world. Here are some of these simple, but really tasty treats.

Boston cream pie is one of most popular desserts that come from New England. It doesn't take too much time to prepare, and it really is tasty and moist, just a kind of a dessert everybody enjoys. For the cake, you will need following ingredients. 2 eggs, 1 1/2 cup sugar, 2 1/4 cups sifted cake flour, 3 tsp. Baking powder, a little bit of salt, 1/3 cup sunflower oil, 1 cup milk and some vanilla extract.

Separate eggs and mix the egg whites adding one half cup of sugar. Sift dry ingredients together. Combine milk, egg yolks, vanilla and oil, and mix it all together with dry ingredients. Gently combine the mixture with egg whites. Grease and lightly flour your mold, spread the mixture in and bake on 350F until done. Let it cool and remove from the pan.

For the cream, you will need 1/3 cup sugar, 3 tbsp. Of cake flour, a little bit of salt, 1 1/4 cups milk, 1 egg, 1 tbsp. Of butter and some vanilla extract. Combine sugar, flour, egg and salt. Gradually add milk and mix well. Cook over medium heat until it thickens, stirring constantly. Stir in butter and vanilla. Cover and let it cool. Slice cake in half, fill with cream filling, place the top back on the cake and finish with cooked chocolate glaze.

For preparing smooth chocolate glaze you need one and a half ounce of dark chocolate, one and a half cup powdered sugar, three tablespoon of water and one teaspoon of vanilla, as well as two tbs butter. Cook water and sugar, melt chocolate in it and add vanilla. Remove from the stow and mix in the butter. Pour this lovely mixture over your cake and let it cool.

Maple Apple Crisp is something you can make in no time at all, and you will love it. You just need to peel and slice four large apples, add four tbs lemon juice, 1/2 cup maple syrup and ground cinnamon, approximately one tea spoon. Let it all rest aside until you make the topping.

For the topping you will need 1 cup uncooked Quaker rolled oats, one third cup flour, half a cup sliced almonds, 2 table spoons vegetable oil, 2 table spoons maple syrup and 1 tea spoon almond extract. Mix topping ingredients all together and let them rest until your apples are baked.

You should preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Grease the mold first. Put the mixture of apples and other ingredients in the oven, covered, and bake for up to 40 minutes. Now it's time to spread the topping on baked apple mixture and put it back again into the oven, this time without the foil. Bake for half an hour or so, the topping should be crisp and golden by then. Cool and enjoy.
