Discover The Convenience Of Gas Logs

By Miranda Sweeney

During the winter season, nothing would feel so much better than just curling yourself up in front of the fireplace with a cup of coffee in one hand and a good book in the other. With both hands full, nothing will take care of the fire to keep them burning. However, it would be very inconvenient to sit up, add firewood and stoke them from time to time when you have already made yourself comfortable.

A wonderful solution to these lazy days are gas logs Dallas. These are widely used as substitute to real firewood across US in providing warmth for the home without the hassle of starting and maintaining a fire. All it takes is a click in the remote. These come in two types, vented and unvented.

Vented logs looks much similar to a wood fire due to the yellow flame it produces that is what real wood create when ignited. In addition to this, there are glowing embers that look like they are really burning when in truth, they are not.

As much as how realistic vented types look, they cannot emit the same intensity of heat as that of real wood fire. Not even half of the energy it creates is provided to the house. Take note, only ten percent goes inside the house while the great part of the heat goes outside through the chimney. Now you will wonder who will benefit on the outside. This kind is more commonly used for decorative purposes.

Meanwhile, unvented logs do not look real despite the yellow flame and glowing embers, but provides the warmth similar to that of a real fire. Ninety five percent of the heat goes inside the house. Imagine how warm is that compared to the ten percent of the vented type.

However, one should be very careful with the unvented type. Although the heat is ideal, it can cause potential danger like fire inside the house. Flammable objects should be removed within the immediate reach of the log set because this one is like an open fire. It is not recommended to start it when you are not at home because this kind of set should be monitored to avoid accidents.

Also, the unvented one excretes an odor and causes the oxygen level inside the house to drop. This is very unfortunate for people with asthma. However, most of these log sets nowadays have a sensor that will automatically turn off the power of the log set if the oxygen level in the room is below the safe level.

Although the unvented type pose more potential danger than the vented, it is the ideal type of gas logs that will provide more heat for your home. However, it all depends on your needs. If the heating system in your home is running perfectly fine and you just need something that will complete the atmosphere, the vented one will do. However, if your purpose is to really make your house cozy and warm, the unvented one will do the job best.

If you do not want to repeat the cycle of lying comfortably, getting up to add more wood and lying back again, you now know what to do. Just do not forget to prepare a place for the remote that is just within your reach. If you want to get lazy, make it all the way.
