Fish & 3 Smart Food Preparation Methods

By Rebecca Mills

Cooking fish can be done in a number of ways, which goes without saying. Regardless of whether you bring your fish from the water or buy these products from stores, it's clear that there is a tremendous amount of variety associated with fish. This is also true when it comes to the culinary methods associated with fish. However, before covering these methods in full detail, I believe that it is worth discussing why it is that fish is such a healthy product to implement.

Fish is highly regarded for its tremendous source of omega-3 fatty acids and they have a number of benefits to consider. One of the best examples of this is the reduction of inflammation, which only scratches the proverbial surface. It's sad, though, because I do not think that many people understand how to prepare fish while making certain that it retains all of its nutrients. In order for this to be done, here are 3 cooking processes to help your fish stand out.

Broiling is preferred if you are working with thicker cuts of fish. In addition, it is recommended for those situations in which you must prepare food for a group of people, which means that it works well for family gatherings and parties alike. However, broiling takes a tremendous amount of time, which means that this will most likely entail more planning on your part. With that said, if you are willing to make the commitment, broiling is one culinary method that shouldn't be overlooked.

One of the defining characteristics of poaching, in regards to fish cooking, is how it is able to keep the product moist. What this means is that you are left with a savory flavor that might be difficult to attain with other methods. Depending on your tastes, you are going to want to use either chicken or vegetable stock so that your fish can be cooked as effectively as possible. Here's a tip: if you start to see the bottom of your pan bubble, turn down the heat and resume cooking.

Grilling is arguably one of the best cooking methods to consider if there isn't enough time on your hand. In addition, you will be happy to know that your fish will be served nicely, in this regard, since it is very much savory. Grilling also entails the usages of spices but it is important to note that the spices in question should work with the fish in order to complement the various tastes. Throw in the fact that time will be on your side and grilling should be looked into often.
