Easy Camping Meal Options

By Julie Gregg

Camping is a fantastic way to take a quick and simple getaway that can be relaxing and energizing at the same time. However, something that can induce work and tension to an outdoor camping excursion can be food.

The Drawback of Camping Food:

Meals can take a lot of work and be time-consuming when you think about the time and work associated with purchasing meals, packing it, storing it, moving it, preparing it and finally cleaning up after you are done with your meal. For some people, this contributes to the fun of outdoor camping, but for others, it is not enjoyable.

If you are the kind of camper who enjoys backpacking in the forest, fishing, climbing rocks or biking on the trails, you might not look forward to the added work of preparing for eating time. You may not have the space in your car for a portable stove, a large cooler and various other food preparation supplies - not to mention the food itself.

The Simple - But Maybe Not So Great Solution:

Obviously, you can eat dry goods and packaged snacks that need no preparation. For many people, nonetheless, this is not an ideal option. They like more nutritious meals and cooked dishes.

The Good News:

Here is good news. You do not need to succumb to the cooking issue if you want to take in home-cooked style dishes. You are able to buy pre-packaged dishes that offer you the nutrition you want and the warm meals you are seeking without the work associated with preparing meals.

Meals Done for You:.

Pre-packaged meals have come a long way. There is a lot of variety and healthy products to pick from. Being simple and fast to prepare, they are also remarkably affordable and take up extremely little space when you are loading up your truck.

These meals usually are available in small single serving bags, so you do not have to hassle with large jars or boxes. Occasionally, you could even consume your food right from the food container. This eliminates the need for many dishes, which can be especially nice for people who have limited storage space. You do not need to pull out the cooking gear to cook, and of course there are no dishes to clean either.

Another advantage to free-dried meals is that they keep for years. This means that you are able to buy your meals in advance of your camping excursion and streamline the procedure and time it requires to do your food buying and packing. This factor alone can be a big motivator for people to take even more camping vacations.

Your Options:

You could get a full meal in a bag, such as a pasta dinner or beef stroganoff. If you just want dehydrated fruits and vegetables or soup mix, you could do that. As I discussed above, there is a large range. In addition, there are a range of packs you can get which will save you cash and permit you to eat various food at each meal.
