Dorothy's life on the farm was not something I could consider simple. From seemingly unappreciative family members to the wicked actions of one Almira Gulch, it's clear that her time on the farm had its share of bad times as well as good. One has to wonder how much of a blessing the reluctant journey to Oz was for Dorothy. She can't escape her real life in Kansas but I feel like her poor life could have been made better thanks to an organic farmers market run by her and her family.
For those who have watched "The Wizard of Oz" - which I am sure is most, if not all, of you - you will know that Dorothy was not very brave when starting out. On the contrary, she was meek and rarely spoke out against others unless she felt like she was being terribly threatened. Her trials in the Land of Oz were, to say the least, empowering and it helped her to develop a stronger personality in turn. I believe that it would be because of such a personality change that she would make a strong saleswoman on the farm.
Dorothy, as she resided on a farm, would be able to have as much livestock as one could like but the money issue is another story. Things became so bleak that the family had to appease the despicable Gulch after she threatened to have the farm taken away. In order for life for the Gales to become better, I believe that it would be in their best interest to let Dorothy try her hand at a market to sell crops. Who's to say that it wouldn't be a success after a few days?
The amount of success especially comes into play when thinking of companies such as Colle Farmers Market. Essentially, these organizations have worked to help farmers when marketing their crops to people over the Internet. An organic farmers market is something that people should take to more frequently due to the abundance and freshness of the products that are being sold. Dorothy should be able to make great use of this, considering her life on the farm, and make it something that she would excel at.
Dorothy's life on the farm might not have been that glorious but it not like she lived a fruitless life. Being able to go through Oz and growing up in the process was something that undoubtedly helped her out in the real world. She would come away from it a better person and she wouldn't be so shy about tackling opportunities that were set in front of her. Whether she becomes a salesperson or not, there's no question that she has the potential for success.
